Produced by Dubspot, the piece shows the Beat Junkies at their 20th Anniversery show in New York City and footage from their early days. Included are interviews of members of the Beat Junkies. The art of the DJ is on full display here. The Beat Junkies are innovators and major contributors to hip-hip culture.
For the first installment of this section, I'm featuring a BBC Radio documentary on J Dilla. This is the fifth episode of the series "1Xtra's Stories: Gone Too Soon" produced by Benji B. The documentary features interviews with Dilla's family (Ma Dukes & Illa J) and closest musician friends (Mos Def, Questlove, Busta Rhymes, T3, Common, Plug 2 from De La Soul, Wajeed, J Rocc & Erykah Badu). The documentary contains many previously unknown gems about J Dilla's history, personality and influence on music as a whole. This is must listen for any avid Hip-Hop fan.
